The Anambra State government has selected 21 secondary schools across the state for the pilot programme of the Smart Learn initiative of the state government. The 21 local government areas in the state provided one school each.

The initiative, which has been officially launched, is a bold and strategic step towards transforming the education sector and deepening digital literacy.

The Managing Director of Anambra ICT Agency, Mr Chukwuemeka Agbata, in a statement in Awka, said the innovative programme is designed to empower both students and teachers by integrating modern technology into classrooms, in line with the state’s vision for a tech-driven future.

According to Agbata, the selected pilot schools will be equipped with state-of-the-art digital tools, e-learning platforms, and interactive content, giving learners and educators access to resources that will enhance teaching and learning experiences.

He said: "The Smart Learn Anambra initiative is a testament to the unwavering commitment of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, to prioritize education and technology as cornerstones of sustainable development in the state.

At its core, Smart Learn Anambra is focused on bridging the digital divide—ensuring that no student is left behind, regardless of location or background.

As the pilot phase unfolds, the government is optimistic about scaling the programme to reach even more schools in the near future.

By fostering an engaging and forward-thinking learning environment, the initiative seeks to prepare students for future careers, particularly in areas such as technology, science, and digital innovation."
