Frontline politician in Anambra State, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu has dumped the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and joined the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He has also declared his intention to run for the Anambra governorship election to be held in November, 2025.
Recall that Ukachukwu was believed to be nursing governorship ambition in the APGA faction led by Edozie Njoku whose claim as the national chairman of APGA was dismissed by the Supreme Court.
Ukachukwu, who made the declaration at his Osumenyi country home in Nnewi South Local Government Area of the state, was officially received by the chairman of Osumenyi APC Ward 1, Ikechukwu Onyeka, alongside other executive members.
At the occasion, he hailed President Bola Tinubu, saying the President has the best interest of the country at heart.
"Tinubu does not hate the Igbo. You see the Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, and other tribes are all complaining. He is working to fix and rebuild the country, and his policy is not one-sided."
"He means well for Nigeria. He is the only president tackling Nigeria's problems head-on. He is running the country like a business, which may involve short-term sacrifices, but will ultimately lead to prosperity," Ukachukwu said.
He expressed joy in joining the APC, saying his desire is to link Anambra State to the federal government and bring development to the state.
He said that as governor, he would sustain the tempo of good governance initiated by President Tinubu and vowed to tackle insecurity, poverty, hunger, and hardship in Anambra State within three months of assuming office.
