A driver and a loader.lost their lives when an oncoming vehicle hit them while they were loading their own vehicle at the ever busy UNIZIK junction in the Anambra State capital.

Both men who are workers with Anambra Comfort Line were loading some luggages in the trunk of a Sienna vehicle, in readiness to travel to Lagos when the accident occurred.

An eyewitness who narrated the incident said a Lexus 350 RX driven by a young man, with a young girl beside him, apparently lost control and rammed into the trunk of the Sienna vehicle where the men stood, killing them instantly.

The driver of the Lexus and the lady were rescued unhurt, with the boy saying the accident occurred as a result of brake failure.

The eyewitness said: "Apart from these two corpses lying here, some people sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital for medical attention. These two men you see here now lying dead were discussing and joking with us just this morning after our morning prayers.

Last night, we were all here to hold candle session for one of our drivers who died, and now this has happened."

"There was no sign that the boy applied brake, or that he was struggling with the car. We suspect that the boy and his girlfriend were coming back from the club.

It is either he was discussing with the girl and lost control or he was drunk or feeling sleepy. "

It took the intervention of the park owners and the police to save the young driver and lady from being lynched.

Friends of the deceased men who were angered by the careless nature of the accident attacked the driver, leading to their being shielded and locked up in a room until the arrival of police operatives, who later smuggled them out.
