Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has inaugurated the newly built multi million naira “Solution Market” and “Solution Park” in Ekwulobia, Aguata local government area, explaining that it is part of his administration's urban regeneration agenda, aimed at transforming the landscape of the state.

Speaking during the ceremony, Soludo explained that the facility will particularly benefit those who will be displaced by the ongoing construction of the Ekwulọbịa flyover, which is nearing completion.

According to him, the new market is the third built by the state government to cater for specific needs.

The governor said: “What we are commissioning is consistent with the APGA mantra of ‘leave no one behind’. The Solution Market, alongside the modern park equipped with amenities, aims to create an environment that stimulates economic activity, while improving the quality of life for residents.

We are using this place as a model for what a modern market should look like. The need to ensure that citizens can trade and shop in pleasure.

If we are aspiring to become like Dubai or Taiwan, we must lay a solid foundation. Our people must enjoy minimum pleasure”.

He pointed out that the ‘Solution Park’ promises to breathe new life into urban settings previously marked by desolation, while the park, which include expansive open spaces for parking, a park for leisure, solar power installations, canteen facilities, and a reliable water supply, are fundamental urban regeneration efforts.

He added that the ongoing development around the Ekwulobia “tower of light” and the planned “Odu Igbo” project stand as testaments to this dedication.

He noted that the ‘Solution Market and Park’ is a property of the state government developed in partnership with local authorities to ensure efficient and effective management.

According to the governor, the state government focuses on empathy and compassion for the less fortunate, as well as making significant strides in connecting communities through infrastructure improvements in line with his vision of elevating Anambra to a level akin to that of global cities.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Patricia Igwebuike, described the bus terminal as a legacy project aimed at alleviating congestion, while the Special Adviser to the Governor on Markets, Chief Evarist Ubah, said the establishment of the facility signifies the complete urbanization of Ekwulobia.
