Ukachukwu spoke when he visited the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe during the 2025 Ofala festival.
He described Igwe Achebe as a distinguished traditional ruler whose values have strengthened Igbo culture and praised the festival as a remarkable cultural treasure that must be preserved for future generations.
According to him, from its humble beginnings, the Onitsha Ofala festival has grown into a brand that stands as a major attraction in Nigeria’s cultural calendar, drawing visitors/tourists and scholars from across the globe.
He commended Igwe Achebe’s unwavering dedication to preserving the traditions and values of his people, emphasizing that the monarch’s leadership has elevated the festival to an international height.
Ukachukwu also underscored the importance of leveraging cultural heritage to promote tourism and socio-economic development, revealing plans to work closely with traditional institutions across the state to showcase Anambra’s rich history and vibrant culture.
“The Ofala festival is not just a celebration; it is a gateway to presenting our people, values, and traditions to audiences both locally and internationally,” he said.
