The governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo and the governorship aspirant of the Labour Party for the November 8 election, Chief George Moghalu, have sympathized with the victims of the devastating fire incident that occurred at Ahịa Mgbede New Motor Spare Parts Market in Nnewi.
In his consolatory message, Governor Soludo lamented that the tragic event has resulted in significant loss of property and livelihood of numerous business owners, plunging them into immense hardship and despair.
While assuring the affected victims of his solidarity at this difficult time, the governor commended the efforts of the Anambra State Fire Service and other emergency responders who worked tirelessly to contain the fire and minimize further damage.
He urged market leaders and business owners across the state to always exercise caution and adhere to fire safety guidelines to prevent such tragic occurrences.
Also consoling the affected traders and their families, the immediate past Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and Labour Party governorship aspirant, Chief George Moghalu expressed deep shock and heartfelt sympathy over the incident.
Extending his condolences to the victims, Moghalu lamented the loss of goods worth millions of naira in the inferno.
Acknowledging the devastating impact on the livelihood of the dependent families, Moghalu urged them to remain strong during this challenging time.
He called on the state government to provide financial assistance, reconstruct the affected shops, and provide necessary resources to help them rebuild their businesses.
He expressed concern over the non-working fire service station in Nnewi, which could have helped curtail the fire on time, emphasizing the need for greater adherence to safety measures to prevent such incidents in future.
