Nafiu Bala-led ADC Is a fake, says human rights lawyer, Ekejiuba

A human rights lawyer, Dr Jezie Ekejiuba has described the Nafiu Bala - led African Democratic Congress, ADC, as fake, alleging that his ADC faction is sponsored by the All Progressives Congress, APC.

According to Ekejiuba, Nafiu Bala is a one-man squad who was ADC Deputy National Chairman, adding that his recent legal antics of writing INEC asking the electoral body to de-recognize the Senator David Mark-led ADC NEC leadership because of the recent interlocutory appeal decision of the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal, was the height of his mischief.

He recalled that the Court of Appeal innocently directed the parties to maintain the status quo pending the determination of the pending substantive suit

He said: "The APC game plan to ensure that President Bola Tinubu seeks re-election bid and contests the 2027 presidential election unopposed started when the party sponsored one Nafiu Bala to institute an action against the new coalition party ADC NEC leadership led by Senator David Mark.

The Federal High Court presided over by Justice Emeka Nwite refused to grant an ex parte application for Order of interim injunction filed by Bala but rather made an order directing both David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola to show cause why the ex parte prayer for interim injunction will not be granted and putting them on notice to respond to the application.

It is this directive order or ruling of the court that Senator Mark appealed against in the Court of Appeal,Abuja which the court, on Tuesday March 17,2026, struck out the appeal marked Appeal No. CA/ABJ/145/2026 on the grounds that it was procedurally incompetent, having been filed against an interlocutory directive without first obtaining the required leave of court to appeal.

"The Appeal Court directed all the parties to maintain the status quo pending the determination of the pending substantive matter filed by Nafiu Bala at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

"It is this directive order by the Court of Appeal, Abuja that the APC - sponsored Nafiu Bala wrote a letter through his lawyers to INEC seeking for his ( Bala's) recognition by INEC, even when he has not won his pending case as he is falsely claiming that the status quo belongs to him.

"For APC and all who have ears to hear listen: The status quo belongs to the original existing structure of ADC NEC leadership led by the National Chairman Chief Raphs Okey Nwosu who in a ADC NEC meeting of July 19,2025 duly monitored by INEC by a unanimous motion the old ADC NEC transformed itself into a new ADC NEC coalition party structure currently led by Senator David Mark as National Chairman and Ex-Gov.Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary."
