The governorship candidate of the Labour Party for the November 8 Anambra election, Chief George Moghalu has paid a strategic visit to Mr. Peter Obi, the party's presidential candidate in the 2023 election.
The closed-door meeting, which took place at the weekend, has sparked speculations about alignments ahead of the election.
Moghalu’s camp say the well calculated and high level engagement visit forms part of the final consultations and groundwork before the official campaign flag-off.
“The Obi factor is huge. Anyone who gets close to him, especially at this time, is clearly sending a message.
This is no ordinary handshake. When you sit with Obi, you’re sitting with the pulse of the people; it’s a signal", a Labour Party official said.
It is believed that the visit could also reshape the structure of the campaign and even influence the final dynamics of the poll.
According to the party official, as the countdown to November 8 begins, all eyes are now on Moghalu, Obi, and the Labour Party, as political gladiators prepare for what promises to be a historic showdown in Anambra.
