Gunmen kidnap Anambra lawmaker

Gunmen have abducted a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly representing Onitsha 1 North Constituency, Hon. Justice Azuka.

Hon. Azuka, a member of the Labour Party, LP, was said to have been abducted while returning to his home at Ugwunaobankpa road, Inland Town, Onitsha.

The abducted lawmaker, who regained his mandate after court sacked the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. Douglas Egbuna, who was previously announced winner of the 2023 poll.

A source said Azuka was doubled crossed at gun point and was quickly whisked away in an operation that did not take up to five minutes at the Ugwunaobamkpa road.

The source said since the lawmaker’s abduction, his whereabouts have remained unknown and his abductors have not made any contact with members of his immediate family, relations or friends

As details surrounding his abduction remain sketchy, a resident of Onitsha has expressed shock over the incident, describing the lawmaker as a very peaceful and quiet person that hardly makes trouble and appealed for his urgent release.
