The Anambra State government has denied stories making the rounds that it has authorized the arrest of women not wearing bras and pants.

Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Mazi Ejimofor Opara debunked the story in a public notice, saying the trending announcement by a town crier in Abagana, Njikoka LGA, was neither from the state government, nor from Agunechemba Security outfit.

Opara emphasized that such trivial matters have no legal support and cannot be the focus of the state government or its law enforcement agencies, especially when the state is focused on ridding itself of criminality.

While encouraging decent dressing in communities, he stated that the state government's primary focus is on maintaining law and order, not policing underwear choices.

The government urged citizens to disregard the announcement and continue supporting security agencies with credible information on criminals in their communities.
