The Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Enugu premises was on Tuesday thrown into wild jubilation, as Dr. Ngọzichukwu Nneka Unaogu, resumed office as the substantive Medical Director of the health institution.

Dr. Unaogu until her appointment was the Acting Medical Director of the hospital.

Her reception as the new substantive boss of FNHE by the management and staff of the hospital is said to be unprecedented in the history of the hospital as both military band and the cultural "Aku n'eche enyị" music group arranged by the staff who trooped out in their numbers herald her from the gate into the large hospital premises.

The jubilant staff in their dances and songs expressed joy for Dr. Unaogu's appointment which they said had brought to an end the uncertainty that had pervaded the institution for a long time now.

Unaogu whose substantive position was confirmed recently by the federal government was formerly a Chief Consultant Psychiatrist (Consultant Special Grade 1) and Head, Training and Research of the institution.

She took over over from the last MD, the embattled Monday Igwe, who was removed from office following unresolved controversies.

Some of the staff who spoke to newsmen, expressed joy that at last peace has returned to the health institution, adding that the emergence Dr Unaogu was a welcome development as she deserved it.

One of them who pleaded anonymity said, "Personally, I see this as the hand of God. I am happy that peace has been restored. This woman deserves this position as everyone would testify that she is sound and well qualified.

She was denied it earlier before the appointment of last last MD, where she came top in the examination but was schemed out in the politics that ensued then."

Another a male staff of the hospital who also pleaded anonymity said, "It was real jubilation here today and I have to summarize why we are this happy. With this appointment of Dr. Unaogu, our nightmare is over."
