The embattled traditional ruler -elect of Ojoto community, Idemili South local government area of Anambra state, Dennis Okafor, has dragged the government of Anambra State to court for allegedly imposing another monarch on the community.

Others dragged to court were the President General (PG) of the town during the period under review, Ifeanyi Umeghalu and some leaders of the community.

Okafor had argued that the people of Ojoto had presented him to the local government after going through the necessary rigours, adding that they were waiting for the staff of office from the state government, when another person, Chief Gerald Mbamalu, was surprisingly issued with the staff of office by the state government.

When the case came up for hearing at the Nnewi High court, counsel to Okafor, Stanley Iruba tendered many letters written by the leadership of the community from 2016 that preceded the selection process and constitution review.

The presiding judge, Justice Emeka Nriezedi admitted the documents as exhibits, despite objection from the counsel to Mbamalu.

The Judge later adjourned the case for 7,12 and 14th of November, 2024.
