The Anambra State branch of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has elected new members of the state executive committee, with Mr. Chris Nwosu as the state chairman.

A Congress committee team from Abuja led by Ambassador Fidel Ayogu, conducted the exercise in Awka, with about 500 delegates from all parts of the state.

Before the commencement of the state congress, motions were moved for the adoption of the congresses earlier conducted at the ward and local government levels.

Another motion adopted before the Congress was for the dissolution of the previous executive of the party from the ward to the state level.

The new chairman, Nwosu, of Anambra, thanked the delegates for the enormous trust on them, assuring of a decisive victory for ADC in the 2027 elections.

In his acceptance speech, Nwosu said: "We accept this responsibility with humility and a clear understanding that it is a call to service. We pledge our complete loyalty and dedication to our great party, and to its guiding ideals. We pledge our loyalty to our leaders in the state and across the country.

As the state EXCO, we extend our hands in warm embrace of unity and oneness in pursuit of the enormous task ahead of us., which is to convince Anambra people that ADC has arrived.

We must rise above differences and build a strong cohesive structure anchored on trust, inclusion and share purpose. Our task is clear, which is to reconnect with the people, deepen our grassroots structure and provide a credible alternative rooted in humility and service."

He reminded members of the party that they have to deliberately earn the confidence of Anambra people by setting a standard worthy of emulation and goals befitting of a state that had produced what he described as Anambra's number one political export, Peter Obi.

"As we prepare for 2027 elections, our objective is decisive victory across all the polls. Therefore, we have to mobilize with diligence and unwavering focus to achieve this mandate .

We will reach every local government, every ward and every home and we hope to build a formidable party that truly represents the hopes and aspirations of our people," he promised.

Earlier, the chairman of the Anambra State Congress Committee, Ambassador Fidel Ayogu, commended the delegates for standing firm with ADC, explaining that the new state officials emerged through consensus.

"I thank the leadership for what it has done for the party. Anambra is very dear to us.

I therefore declare all those who were elected to occupy their positions", Ayogu said.

The new executive officials were immediately sworn in by Barrister Godfrey Okoye.
