The Supreme Court has sacked Julius Abure as the national chairman of the Labour Party (LP) 24 hours before the governorship primary election of the party Anambra State.
A five-member panel of the apex court nullified the decision of the Court of Appeal in Abuja, which had earlier declared Abure as the party’s national chairman.
In a unanimous judgment, the Supreme Court ruled that the Court of Appeal lacked the jurisdiction to issue such a declaration, on the ground that the substance of the case has to do with the internal leadership of the party.,
It also clarified that all matters relating to party leadership are internal affairs, over which the judiciary has no jurisdiction.
