The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam says the command has stepped up security advocacy to gather support from the people and build more trust and confidence for Police and other security agencies in the state.
According to the Commissioner, the security advocacy was born out of the quest of the command to foster community engagement and encourage individuals to take ownership of security and report suspicious activities.
It would also help to prevent security breaches, cyber-attacks and physical harm by promoting proactive measures, as well as educate individuals and organizations on potential security risks, vulnerabilities, and best practices.
The advocacy would also contribute to national security by promoting a culture of security awareness and responsibility, facilitate collaboration among stakeholders, including governments, organizations and individuals, help to reduce economic losses and protect investments.
The advocacy, he further said, would help promote a culture of security, encourage individuals and organizations to prioritize security in their daily lives.
Meanwhile, the CP has directed the establishment of the Community Policing Committees as enshrined in the Police Act 2020.
He explained that members of the committees include Presidents General of the various communities, youth leaders, leaders of Christian Associations in the local governments, traditional rulers, markets leaders, vigilante operatives and other relevant stakeholders.
