Anambra Police arrest 3 suspects terrorizing the state, recover arms

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, have arrested three suspects and recovery arms in Ogidi, Idemili North local government area in another breakthrough by the Anambra State Police command to rid the state of crime.


Following sustained investigation and interrogation, the operatives arrested one Chukwuka Anene suspected to be the ringleader of the syndicate, who confessed to being the armourer of the criminal gang.


The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Tochukwu Ikenga said in a statement that the suspect subsequently led Police operatives to the gang’s hideout in Ogidi.


Items recovered by the Police include two pump-action guns, two locally made Beretta pistols, five rounds of 9mm ammunition, seven live cartridges, a beret linked to a cult group, and body armour.


According to the PPRO, the Command has intensified efforts to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang, while investigations remain ongoing.


He reiterated the Command's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and urged members of the public to continue to support the Police with credible information.
