The suspended member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Bernard Udemezue, has been handed additional three months, as the assembly said the lawmaker has not shown any remorse since the earlier offense.
Udemezue, who represents Ayamelum state constituency, was suspended in August for three months and he reappeared in the House of Assembly on Tuesday during Governor Chukwuma Soludo's budget presentation.
He was, however, forced out of the premises by his colleagues for not complying with the requirements for his suspension to be lifted.
On Wednesday, the house decided to increase the suspension by another three months, hoping that he would meet the conditions stipulated by the house.
One of the conditions given to him by the House Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics and Privileges for readmission was that Udemezue should apologize to the Speaker and other members of the House of Assembly in writing and on his social media space within five days counting from 26-November, 2025
Another condition was that he should not be seen around the premises of the Anambra State House of Assembly during the period of this suspension.
The House also stressed that the sanctions would still be subject to further review in the event of no compliance by Hon. Udemezue.
Udemezue had, in his defense, said that he followed due process, claiming that he had submitted necessary letters for resumption to the appropriate authorities before his appearance in the legislative building.
