Anambra lawmaker empowers 200 constituents within 6 months in office

The member representing Awka North/South Federal Constituency of Anambra State in the House of Representatives, Prof. Oby Orogbu, says that she has empowered over 200 households in her constituency within her six months in office.


Orogbu said at a function in Awka that the empowerment was part of her responsibilities to liberate the people from hunger and other challenges in the society.


She said that she has also submitted 2000 names from the constituency who would be receiving N25,000 monthly stipend each from the Federal Government Cash Transfer programme.


According to her, the beneficiaries cut across political, ethnic and religious affiliations, adding that Yorubas, Hausas, the people of South -South APGA, APC, PDP and other political party members residing within the constituency would be part of the gesture.


Orogbu, who is the chairman of House Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility, said she joined active politics to assist in liberating the vulnerable people especially, the women in Anambra State from unwanted hunger and other challenges in the society.


The lawmaker, who was elected on the platform of the Labour Party urged the party's supporters to commence mobilization of members in their various wards ahead of the 2025 governorship election in the state.


Among those who attended were the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Victor Umeh, a chieftain of the party, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo and the lawmaker representing Awka South Constituency 1 in the state House of Assembly, Hon Henry Mbachu.
