The governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, Sir Paul Chukwuma has commenced palliative work on the abandoned Otuocha-Anyamelum road.
The road, which used to facilitate the evacuation of agricultural produce from the farmlands to markets within Anambra State and beyond, has been out of use for many years.
It is also an important access road for businessmen connecting Onitsha with the northern part of Enugu State.
During his campaign to the area a few weeks ago, Chukwuma assured the people of Anyamelum that he would prioritize the reconstruction of the only access road to the LGA to enable the area realize its maximum agro potentials.
The palliative work, which began on Monday, October 13, 2025, would be completed in the next few days.
Chukwuma, who described the ongoing work as a sign of what is to come if he wins the November 8 governorship election, said he was personally concerned about the condition of the road during his campaign tour in the local government,
"I specifically singled that road out and assured the people that we shall respond. What we are doing is a mere palliative work.
It is a sign of what is to come. Under my watch, important and strategic infrastructure shall be given accelerated attention in the overall public good,” Chukwuma said.
The people of the area, whose happiness knew no bounds, thanked the YPP candidate for the intervention and promised to support him.
