The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the November 8 Anambra election, Mr. John Nwosu, has pledged to run an administration anchored on equity, empathy, and inclusive governance, if elected.
In an interactive session with women leaders drawn from the 21 local government areas of the state at his campaign office in Awka, Nwosu assured that there would be no gender discrimination by his administration.
Informing the women that their presence has strengthened his resolve to serve, the ADC candidate acquainted them with his agenda, especially the pillars focused on security, the economy, healthcare, and social welfare, which, he added, alignsl with their aspirations.
He said that his decision to contest was inspired by the urgent need to offer a credible alternative to the current administration, and to restore leadership founded on fairness and compassion.
“Our mothers, our wives, our widows, and our sisters are the ones who suffer most when government fails. Bad governance, economic hardship, and rising insecurity have placed a disproportionate burden on women,” he said.
Nwosu promised that women would not be sidelined under his leadership, pledging a 60:40 gender ratio in appointive offices.
“Women will not only be visible in this campaign, they will be visible in government. My administration will ensure that 60 percent of appointments are open to women, because inclusive leadership is the only way forward,” he declared.
Nwosu urged the women to take the message of change back to their communities, promising a government that listens, understands, and delivers.
