The governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, for the November 8 election, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, has kicked off his campaign, saying the political wards will be the center of activities.
Speaking at Ayamelum local government area where he led officials of APC at all levels to interact with the people, Ukachukwu commended the people for their support to him during the primaries of the party.
During the visit, he inaugurated campaign members for each of the wards, assuring that all the support that would enable the wards to deliver their areas would be sent directly to every ward.
"I don't want anyone to be coming to my town or Awka to tell me that he is the one to deliver his local government as everything will go to the wards directly.
We expect every ward to register at least 400 people and from July, all the registered people will start receiving stipend. We also expect that all the people registered must have their voters card", he told them.
Acknowledging that Ayamelum is the food basket of the state, Ukachukwu said he will join them in farming to ensure food sufficiency in Anambra State.
He said that if elected governor, he would be granting loans to farmers, adding that the people of Ayamelum must benefit from the gesture.
"I will ensure that all farms and farmers in the state are protected so that Anambra will be safe for farming.
The APC candidate said there is need to take Anambra State to the center ,"so that our state will be getting what other APC states are enjoying."
The state chairman of APC, Chief Basil Ejidike said the governorship campaign won't be the usual running around, adding that this time around, everybody should work hard to deliver his polling booth.
"We've suffered for long and that's why we want to connect our state to the center and Ukachukwu and Uche Ekwunife are the people that will lead us to the Government House after the November election", Ejidike said.
