A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Labour Party, LP, for the 2025 Anambra election, Mr John Nwosu has described the recent abduction of three people at the Nnewi showroom of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing as an indication that security architecture in the state has collapsed.
In a statement in Awka, Nwosu observed that if left unchecked, the prevailing situation would further erode the confidence of domestic and foreign investors, as well as small business owners who now fear endlessly of being kidnapped or even killed.
He said: "This latest abduction is just one of many such attacks occurring in various parts of Anambra State. I'm aware that several such incidents go unreported.
It is becoming very difficult to fathom what our dear Anambra State is turning into. On the eve of the Christmas and New Year festivities, the expansive level of insecurity is deeply frightening.
In solidarity, I join other good indigenes and non- indigenes who reside and do business in Anambra State in calling out the Anambra State government and the allied security agencies to be proactive and more robust in tackling such horrific attacks and kidnappings.
I have repeatedly warned that the security architecture now in place in Anambra State has collapsed. The challenge at hand calls for creativity and the deployment of the appropriate technologies to interdict the perpetrators and ameliorate the prevailing concerns."
He said that as an IT expert, he will procure and deploy all the needed technology required to sanitize the environment and raise the efficacy of policing modalities in the state, if elected governor in 2025, adding that the protection of lives and property will be his topmost priority.
