Abducted Anambra NDLEA Director regains freedom after 10 days in captivity

The Anambra State Director of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mr. Daniel Onyishi has regained freedom after 10 of his abduction.
Onyishi was kidnapped in the early hours of June 12 along Oby Okoli Road, Awka
Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement that the release of the NDLEA director was confirmed by the state Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu.
Ikenga said police, in collaboration with sister agencies, especially the operatives of the NDLEA led by the Zone 12 Commander of the Agency, Mrs Florence Ezeonye, coordinated the rescue efforts which helped in the victim's safe return.
The statement by the PPRO said: "The Anambra State Police Command today, 22nd June 2025, confirmed the release of the abducted NDLEA Anambra State Director, Mr. Daniel Onyishi.
It would be recalled that the victim was abducted in the early hours of 12th June 2025 along Winner Road, Awka. He is currently in safe custody and receiving medical attention.
The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has briefed the Police High Command on the development and activated the IGP’s directive to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book."
