Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential aspirant in the 2023 general election and former President of the World Igbo Congress, Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze, has warned his party not to allow the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to contest for the 2027 election, prophesying that the party will lose the remaining states it is controlling if it fields Atiku.
Anakwenze,in an interview at Abagana, Njikoka local government area of Anambra, where he recently assumed the position of the Regent of the community, said PDP needs to bring in people with new ideas who can perform better than the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and Atiku.
He said: "I belong to PDP. PDP has problems because people like Atiku do not want it to succeed. He is one of those that are holding the party down.
We need people who are totally different and people who can effect positive changes. The smartest people in Nigeria have not ruled the country and that is why we are losing on all fronts.
We have resources than most other countries that have developed, but we can't develop because of bad leadership. In Nigeria, only people who are supposed to be in prison are the ones calling the shots.
You give them opportunity and they will concentrate only on their tribes and those who belong to the same religion with them.
Nigeria has a lot of potentials that can facilitate turning things around for the better, but those potentials are ignored. I might not be president, but I must be speaking my mind to see if the country could be made better."
